A video shared by Hefti Brunold reveals an encounter between the otter and a surfer off the coast of Santa Cruz on Sunday.

The 5-year-old feminine otter was born in captivity after her mom was captured for aggression, probably attributable to being fed by people, per experiences. After weaning, the pup was tagged and launched into the wild.
